Newsletter – Jun 10, 2019

Hello, We, first, would like to apologize for missing the edition of a newsletter two weeks ago. Between the damp weather we\’ve had and the extreme fatigue I have been going through for months, my energy levels have been at a minimum and pain has been driving me nuts. So, when the weather finally smartened up for a few days, I “unplugged” and spent time working in the garden and around the house – of course, overdoing it. “Unplugging” actually felt quite good. But now, it is time to catch up on some business 😃 Our next Support Group meeting will be:
When: Wednesday June 12, 2019 from 1-3pm
Location: Calvin Presbyterian Church 401 First Ave West, North Bay, ON Room 303

Come and share your experience or learn some new techniques that may work for you. Firends, family and caregivers are also welcome! *** This is a NUTS and FRAGRANCE FREE meeting *** Feel free to bring a snack and/or beverage for yourself.

“Connecting to Your Community” On Wednesday, May 29th, FMNB was one of the participant at the Community Living\’s “Connecting to Your Community”… and What a Great Event!!! We met so many people, some with Fibromyalgia, some who have relatives and/or friends with Fibromyalgia… Lots of questions were asked, people pleased there was something available for them in North Bay, many did not know there was a group for them, others just inquiring about FM and CFS… and the list goes on… There was even interest in having FMNB as guest speaker at some of the participants’ events. The entire 4 hours of the event was non-stop talking to people. We took the opportunity to go around and connect with other organizations and services. We only sold one awareness bracelet, but the amount of people who stopped by was well worth the lack of sales. Overall, it was a wonderful opportunity to “connect to our community”. What a great way to end Fibromyalgia Awareness Month!!! Brain Injury Awareness Event On Tuesday, June 4th, the Brain Injury Association of North Bay & Area was hosting an Awareness event at the Grand Event Centre. FMNB took the opportunity to drop by and learn about programs and therapies featured by local businesses and agencies that offer products and services to help people living with acquired brain injuries. Why attend a Brain Injury Awareness event? People with brain injuries have cognitive issues as we, FM and CFS sufferers, do. So, it was a great opportunity to network with businesses and agencies that may be able to provide some help with one of our worst symptom. Some of the businesses and agencies that we interacted with included:
  • Brain Injury Association of North Bay & Area
  • Symetrics
  • Nipissing Mental Health Housing & Support Services
  • March of Dimes Canada
  • Victorian Order of Nurses for Canada (VON)
  • Ohana Yoga & Wellness Centre
Did you know? VON offers a FREE Exercise Program! The exercise program is a great opportunity to build strenght, flexibility and balance, while having fun and meeting people from your community. We have a list of 4 different places where the program is offered. Contact us if you are interested. Ohana Yoga & Wellness Centre is offering Karma Week FREE unlimited class pass from June 17 to 22. We can provide you with a schedule should you be interested in taking part. Awareness Bracelets Would you like to get one (or more) of our beautiful awareness bracelet? They are always available at the meetings at a cost of only $10. All proceeds will remain for FMNB’s administration and activities. You can’t make it to a meeting? feel free to send us an email at and we can make arrangements to get it to you. Methods of payment can be cash, Debit Tap, credit cards or email transfer through your banking institution. Awareness is Every Day! Feel free to share this Newsletter with your family and friends.
